On November 12, Act Global’s corporate office in Austin will be participating in the Dresses for Dreams 5k benefiting Field of Dreams Uganda.
There are five different locations across the United States, in Missouri, Indiana, Illinois and Texas. Satellite runners around the world are also welcome to support Dresses for Dreams remotely in their own communities.
All proceeds raised through Dresses for Dreams will go towards Field of Dreams Uganda’s Girls Empowerment Project. The funds will go towards providing washable and reusable feminine hygiene kits for the girls at nine different partner schools. These kits provide hope for the girls involved, and remove one obstacle from their path of achieving their dreams.
In Uganda, girls face unique challenges as they strive to achieve their dreams. FoDU stresses how important it is to provide creative and empowering programming to help those dreams become a reality. Supporting their initiative ensures the following benefits for just one girl enrolled in the program at one of nine partner campuses:
- A hygiene kit to ensure that each girl can attend classes and train for soccer during their monthly cycles
- Coaching that ensures confidence building and life skills training
- Educational guidance and counseling services from our highly skilled Education Advocates
- Access to FoDU soccer programming, tournaments, and training
- The reassurance that their life matters and that they have a purpose
