2010 World Cup Qualifiers Played on Xtreme Turf

Malawi

AUSTIN, TEXAS – November 2008

As the world begins preparation for the next FIFA World Cup, the Zimbabwe and Malawi football teams celebrated victories in recent World Cup qualifying matches. These matches were played on Xtreme Turf synthetic pitches, which were manufactured and installed by Act Global Sports. The Xtreme Turf has received rave reviews from players and national coaches.

The use of artificial turf for top-level sporting events continues to grow around the world. FIFA plays a large part of this growth through its international standard for football (soccer) turf as well as investing in development projects around the world. In Africa, FIFA sponsored the renovation of the playing surfaces at Rufaro Stadium (Zimbabwe) and Kamuzu Stadium (Malawi).

Act Global Sports, a licensee of the FIFA Quality Concept, (UPDATE: Act Global is now a FIFA Preferred Producer for Football Turf) was selected to replace the natural grass surface with an artificial one that would meet the requirements of international FIFA matches.

“FIFA is making large scale investments to develop football in Africa, and we are pleased to be selected for these projects. We thank the Malawi and Zimbabwe Football Federations for their support on these challenging projects,” said Chris Clapham, director of Act Global Sports.

ACT Global Sports conducts field test to earn FIFA two-star certification

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AUSTIN, TEXAS

ACT Global Sports announced today that it has signed a three-year license agreement with FIFA and has achieved a FIFA Recommended 2-Star Certificate for its installation at Chung Jang Sport Park in South Korea.

“This installation demonstrates our commitment to sports performance and proves our artificial turf system performs like natural grass”, comments Chris Clapham, director of ACT Global Sports.

With increased worldwide participation in sports and leisure activities, artificial turf provides an ever-growing solution to the maintenance and durability limitations of natural grass. This has led several international sport organizations to evaluate the use of artificial turf surfaces as a natural grass alternative.

FIFA, the world’s soccer governing body, has obtained significant testing, medical research, and player feedback in order to understand the playability, safety and performance of the perfect natural grass pitch. As a result, FIFA developed its highest two-star rating system to identify the best artificial turf pitches. By proving through extensive laboratory and field testing that its artificial turf system performs like natural grass, an artificial turf supplier can earn a FIFA Recommended Certificate.

Installations that earn a FIFA Recommended 2-Star Certificate are eligible to host all FIFA international tournaments if allowed by the competition rules. Wil Ditzel, Director of ACT Global, explains, “We are very excited to offer an artificial surface that is manufactured and installed according to the highest quality requirements in the world. The successful field test enables clients such as Chung Jang Sport Park to obtain the FIFA 2-Star Recommendation.”
