Act Global Teams up with the Homeless World Cup

Act Global Teams up with the Homeless World Cup

For the fifth consecutive year, Act Global has collaborated with the Homeless World Cup to be their official synthetic turf sponsor. This year’s event took place at the heart of the Welsh capital, Cardiff, from July 27-Aug 3, and brought together more than 500 players representing over 50 countries.

The Homeless World Cup is an annual tournament hosted by the Homeless World Cup Foundation founded in 2003. The foundation uses football to inspire people who suffer from homelessness and help improve their lives.

A survey conducted by the Homeless World Cup Foundation revealed that 96% of people agreed football is a good way to bring people together. Along with inspiring this marginalized group of people, the foundation wants to destigmatize the perception of homelessness. The tournament attracts crowds of more than 80,000 and millions more watching online.

A recent study on global homelessness estimated 100 million worldwide are homeless and as many as 1.6 billion people lacked suitable housing. 94% of participants of the tournament in the past said that the Homeless World Cup positively impacted their life.

Act Global was founded in 2004 on a social and technical culture dedicated to serving the safety and performance needs of players while supporting communities across the globe. The Homeless World Cup and Act Global united on love for sports and a shared goal of helping the community.

Act Global is so excited to have brough 3 synthetic turf fields to the event and could not be more proud of the men and women who participated all week long.

Bronxville Union Free High School Upgrades Chambers Field with Act Global Synthetic Turf

After witnessing the large success and durability of Hayes Field since 2015, the district knew exactly who to turn to in the selection of synthetic turf for their Chambers Field. It was no question having seen it withstand flooding and snowstorms on top of its extensive daily usage each day over the course of four years.

Act Global partner, HERA SPORTS, installed a new Act Global Xtreme Turf BDX50 field for the school’s football, soccer and lacrosse teams. Like Hayes Field, the new Chambers Field will showcase GreenPlay’s custom infill blend of coconut fibers and cork and use the ProPlay-Sport23 product by Schmitz Foam. The ProPlay pad ensures that the playing surface is shock absorbent and safe to play on and the organic infill option helps support the movement of “going green”. This system will ensure adequate gradient drainage of water to help combat against harsh weather and flooding.

Now that the high school will have two synthetic fields at their disposal instead of one, the practice and game day schedule for their football, soccer and lacrosse teams will become easier and more flexible for years to come. The new field will be able to quickly fix past issues and help student-athletes continue to develop their skills and sportsmanship with the added playtime a synthetic turf field provides, approximately six times more than the average natural grass field.

“Act Global is honored to be chosen for the field replacement at their stadium, Chambers Field,” said Act Global General Manager for Sales and Operations, Jerry Harper. “The success of our BDX50 system at Hayes Field, Bronxville Union Free School Districts Multipurpose Field, provide the Broncos the most state-of-the-art facilities in the area.”

The school district, Act Global and HERA SPORTS are confident in the turf system for Chambers Field. The world-class turf company hopes to continue to touch the lives of the student body as much as it has with Hayes Field, serving the multitude of communities across the district.

Removable End Zones

Removable End Zones

The University of Sherbrooke has started renovation work of its track and field. Act Global partner, Carpell Surfaces, has been chosen to lead and install a new surface for the university’s upcoming races and major competitions, as well as provide removable synthetic grass goal areas, better known as removable end zones, for the football field located inside the track, with turf provided by Act Global! Currently, the Michel Leclerc group is completing the demolition work and the project should be completed before autumn! The future’s looking bright!

So, this begs the question: what are removable end zones and why are they so cool?

Removable end zones are easier to maintain because instead of having to paint new logos of competing teams onto existing end zone turf, new end zones can be manufactured and then swapped out. An example of a stadium doing this is the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It can often be too difficult to remove paint already used for logos and names and replace them with other teams. This makes the overall process easier.

Act Global and Carpell Surfaces are excited for these upcoming months! We look forward to bringing the university a one of a kind track and field with awesome removable end zones, second to none!

Act Global partner, the KYA Group, is at it again with another victory! The KYA Active team finished renovations for Montgomery High School’s new track and field and the result is stunning!

The goal of KYA Active projects is to provide consistency and quality assurance. They have continued to administer the highest level of quality, all-star service, and support. The primary focus of the company is partnering with schools to help create safe environments and functioning facilities for student athletes. Player safety, performance and facility maintenance, and durability is a high priority for both the KYA Group and Act Global.

Montgomery High School understood that a new track and field needed to be installed for its student athletes at low maintenance. The new field ensures high performance and offers player safety to the highest degree and the track provides a soft surface for runners, giving them more speed in the long haul.

Both Act Global and the KYA Active team understand the high demands and requirements of all athletes!

Installation Spotlight: Baseball Bullpens!

Installation Spotlight: Baseball Bullpens!

The Patriots are starting out strong this year already touting a 3-0 record and outscoring their opponents 40-7! The Pittston Area School District, located in Pennslyvania, called on Act Global, HERA SPORTS and Mericle to add some spice to their baseball facility as they continue their incredible season. The installation team installed was is known as a bullpen!

In baseball, the bullpen is the area where relief pitchers warm-up before entering a game. Over the last few years, the bullpen has increased in popularity amongst amateur and professional teams. This is because it provides every team to have a place for multiple pitchers and allows an easy transition for when the starter begins to show signs of fatigue.

The Pittston Area School District decided it was time to add some bullpens for the team. It was a no brainer for the school in their decision to choose Act Global’s Xtreme Turf BDX for the installation. The turf is designed to provide durability and consistency for the players while removing bad hops. In a game of fatigue, it is incredibly important for the players to have only the best surface availability.

Act Global sends a big shout out to HERA SPORTS for the great installation and Mericle for the site work and site management! Synthetic turf has its benefits in every place an athlete practices and plays!
