Innovate More: A Pillar, Not a Slogan

Innovate More: A Pillar, Not a Slogan

Picture this: it’s the year 2050. The world population has grown to 9.8 billion people and close to 70% live in urban areas. Clean air travel has become the go to option for traveling and society is experiencing technology unlike before. Education has increased leaps and bounds, and world countries experience less poverty on a universal scale.

It sounds beautiful, right? Innovation is the key to the future. The world never stops, and we continue to adapt every day. Presently, as well as within the next 30 years, countries across the globe are experiencing a steady rise in urbanization and an increase in airport travel. Humanity truly wasn’t made to sit still!

However, this means waste production will continue to overflow landfills at an exponential rate. In addition to maximizing available land space for business, leisure, sports and communities, it is a necessity for the environment to be protected along with its resources. We must continue to be creative in the conservation of clean drinking water and how we care for the Earth. As part of our “Innovate More” pillar, Act Global develops solutions for these important issues through synthetic turf. As a result, we know we can help further mankind and our planet’s habitability.

We do this by offering a huge product range that covers sports (Xtreme Turf, Xtreme Grass), landscape (Turfscape), aviation (AvTurf), and landfills (LiteEarth). Each product is manufactured with specific components in mind, such as the safety of the environment, athlete safety, airport operation safety, and of course, the need for better surface solutions. As technology grows and society acclimates, so do we. We adapt because it is vital for every project and product we assemble to be of the utmost quality.

Our values drive our business. It is through creativity and innovation that further the vision we see for a better world. Innovating more is more than just a commitment, it is a lifestyle Act Global embraces and encourages.

March Winter Madness: How Cold Weather Effects Natural Grass Fields

March Winter Madness: How Cold Weather Effects Natural Grass Fields

March winter madness has begun! So far, this winter has been quite the chilly one with a few scattered bursts of beautiful weather! Some might say it’s even too cold to be practicing or playing any sort of sport outside. We at Act Global are here to say it’s never too cold for athletes to get their game on with our synthetic turf fields!

Here are some effects that cold weather has on natural grass fields:

Dormancy – Most grass goes dormant in winter. While it may look dead, it is still technically alive and will grow again the following spring – however, the game shouldn’t have to stop just because the grass looks dead and needs time to repair! Synthetic turf fields take away all the maintenance needs of a natural grass field and allow athletes to continue to play competitively and leisurely all year long.

Desiccation – There are times when not all grass will survive, and patches will be scattered throughout a natural grass field. This is known as desiccation which is moisture loss caused by extreme cold. Desiccation is always a possibility because snow and ice enable moisture to reach the roots. This takes even more time and maintenance to fix as grass has to be replaced. Synthetic turf kicks this possibility completely – you’ll never have to worry about desiccation!

Snow Mold Risk – Snow mold is a fungus that affects natural grass fields and lawns under snow cover. While this isn’t much of an issue in some states such as Texas, for those in the Northeast snow mold is a common problem.

Damage and Death – Damage and death is always a possibility. It is strongly recommended to not step on a natural grass field, or even lawn, when there is snow. This is because the pressure from the snow and any added weight can cause permanent damage to the grass. This is especially important if the natural grass field was already weak before the winter months started. This really takes practice time from athletes, causing any potential development to slow down.

Act Global’s turf can withstand extreme weather on both sides of the spectrum. This provides a huge advantage for community and school athletes. Games and practices will no longer have to be canceled due to natural grass maintenance and players can continue to develop their skills. It’s all about the game and player growth at Act Global!
