Ocean City, NJ—54,000 square feet of Act Global’saviation artificial grass, AvTurf,is installed along the entire length of the runway’s west/northwest side and in safety areas at both ends.
Ocean City Municipal Airport is located on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Great Egg Harbor Bay. Located so close to water, the airport is prone to erosion, high tides, and safety hazards from birds.
With the newly installedAvTurf, the surface will be resistant to erosion, force burrowing species to relocate, eliminate bird strikes, and provide a variety of other benefits.
Along with its safety benefits, AvTurf will save the airport both time and money by removing the need for watering, fertilizing, or mowing.
AvTurfis fully tested for safety, performance, and longevity. With installations worldwide,AvTurf is the optimalsafety solution for airport ground cover with installations worldwide.

Airports are filling their runways and taxiways with synthetic grass.
Erosion and birdstrikes are just a few of the hazards that impact airport runways and taxiways. Artificial turf prevents animals from nesting or burrowing near runways and keeps animals away from planes taking off and landing. InstallingAvTurf, Act Global’s aviation turf, can assist in eliminating these hazards while providing a clean, green, and low maintenance surface area.
An artificial turf-natural grass hybrid is on the market.
A hybrid system lets real living grass grow up between the synthetic turf fibers formin a mixture of natural and synthetic blades–a woven backing makes this possible. Act Global offersXtreme Grass hybrid which reinforces natural grass’ playability properties combined with the durability of synthetic turf. The synthetic turf fibers help stabilize and protect the natural grass to reduce playing damage and divots. The hybrid turf system is excellent for high traffic areas such as soccer goalie boxes.
Pets love synthetic grass too!
Pet’s won’t keep their owners from enjoying a luxuriousartificial turf backyard. The soft yet durable fibers are paw-friendly, and distinct infills are manufactured to absorb urine and eliminate any odors–plus easy cleanup and no brown spots! Lastly, you won’t have to use pesticides on your lawn that are harmful to your furry friends.
Artificial turf is a sustainable way to cap landfills.
Current landfill capping systems typically run into issues of erosion and maintenance. With synthetic grass, the risk of erosion is reduced while obtaining a natural look. LiteEarth, produced by Act Global, andSolmax, have combined their expertise to produce the patented LiteEarth Capping System. The monofilament stand up system eliminates the need for infill and reduces the risk of erosion from wind or water.
Turf has no limits!
Synthetic grass can be used in a multitude of ways such as batting cages, art galleries, and even ceilings! At Act Global, we push the limits of our installations with our slogan in mind “Be More”. As a worldwide leader in turf manufacturing, we are always pushing ourselves to be more innovative when it comes to new projects, and are always up for a creative challenge. Every day we challenge ourselves to “Be More”.

Picture this: it’s the year 2050. The world population has grown to 9.8 billion people and close to 70% live in urban areas. Clean air travel has become the go to option for traveling and society is experiencing technology unlike before. Education has increased leaps and bounds, and world countries experience less poverty on a universal scale.
It sounds beautiful, right? Innovation is the key to the future. The world never stops, and we continue to adapt every day. Presently, as well as within the next 30 years, countries across the globe are experiencing a steady rise in urbanization and an increase in airport travel. Humanity truly wasn’t made to sit still!
However, this means waste production will continue to overflow landfills at an exponential rate. In addition to maximizing available land space for business, leisure, sports and communities, it is a necessity for the environment to be protected along with its resources. We must continue to be creative in the conservation of clean drinking water and how we care for the Earth. As part of our “Innovate More” pillar, Act Global develops solutions for these important issues through synthetic turf. As a result, we know we can help further mankind and our planet’s habitability.
We do this by offering a huge product range that covers sports (Xtreme Turf, Xtreme Grass), landscape (Turfscape), aviation (AvTurf), and landfills (LiteEarth). Each product is manufactured with specific components in mind, such as the safety of the environment, athlete safety, airport operation safety, and of course, the need for better surface solutions. As technology grows and society acclimates, so do we. We adapt because it is vital for every project and product we assemble to be of the utmost quality.
Our values drive our business. It is through creativity and innovation that further the vision we see for a better world. Innovating more is more than just a commitment, it is a lifestyle Act Global embraces and encourages.

Since 2000, AvTurf has been the trusted aviation turf system for some of the largest airports across the world. Most airports actually face the same critical issues: foreign object debris, erosion, poor visibility, drainage problems, and wildlife encounters. Modern facilities have found ways to mostly mitigate the effects of these concerns, but these reactive strategies leave airports vulnerable to the potential of a catastrophic event. For almost 2 decades many facilities have begun to take a proactive approach to eliminate hazards such as these from vital runways and taxiways through the installation of AvTurf’s specialized, quality-tested system.
In addition to the crucial safety enhancements that AvTurf provides to airports, the artificial grass surface has been noted as a more aesthetic alternative to natural grass that reduces time, cost, and planning for regular maintenance. With no need for mowing, weeding, or fertilizing, or the need to shut down runways for maintenance vehicles, airports are able to recoup their expenditures associated with the installation of AvTurf synthetic turf within just a few years.
AvTurf is committed to helping build safer and more efficient airports across the world

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is the primary airport serving the New York City area, and one of the most popular airports in the world. As the single most-frequented gateway into North America for international travelers, the airport currently serves close to 60 million passengers a year.
As one of the busiest airports, JFK hosts takeoffs and landings for some of the largest passenger airplanes- a duty that can be degrading to the infrastructure of the airport. This was especially apparent along infield islands and along runway 13R/31L. This specific runway is the third longest commercial runway in North America and hosts about half of the airport’s inbound and outbound traffic- including A-380 aircraft traffic.
In 2007, AvTurf was contracted by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to install a surface that would control erosion and FOD. With the approaching arrival of a new line of jumbo jets, AvTurf served as an alternative to constant runway closures that were previously necessary to clean up debris blown onto intersecting runways from the airport’s natural groundcover. In addition, the synthetic turf surface aids in, combating drainage problems, mitigating wildlife management, and minimizing maintenance for the selected plot of AvTurf.
Years later, AvTurf continues to be an extremely viable solution for JFK to solve the host of problems the airport faced.
