The Tampa Bay Rowdies beat Louisville City FC 2-1 this Saturday becoming USL Eastern Conferences champions.
The Rowdies will face the Phoenix Rising on Nov. 1 at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Our Florida partner, Burke Construction, installed Act Global’s Xtreme Turf at the team’s practice facility last year.
At Act Global, we use player safety research and data to design our artificial grass surfaces. This means creating a system that is unique to the needs of the sport and the player.

General Sports Surfaces out of Fort Worth, Texas, installed the NR34 product that was developed in collaboration with Act Global and Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan and his Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment.
West Orange TX–Using natural grass benchmarks, RS3 and Act Global set out to engineer an optimum surface in terms of ball roll, infill splash, and natural ball bounce.
“We’re excited to be partnering with West Orange-Stark School and congratulate them on being the first field to bear the NR34 name,” Ryan Sanders Baseball CEO Reese Ryan said. “We’re committed to bringing the game of baseball to as many people as possible while keeping player safety at the forefront, and we feel very confident in this product.”
General Sports Surfaces, who recently installed a new Act Global synthetic turf for the West Orange-Stark football field, was also involved in the base construction and installation of the school’s new baseball and softball fields.
“It is not often that a company in the synthetic turf industry has the unique opportunity to be the first to do something,” Hector Puentes, CEO of General Sports said. “The baseball and softball fields, installed by General Sports at West Orange-Stark High School, are not only the first Act Global NR34 fields in Texas, they are the first in the entire nation. We are proud to be associated with Act Global and the Nolan Ryan group (RS3),”
“Countless hours of research and testing went into the development of this system, which was designed and tested to emulate the playing conditions of perfectly manicured natural grass baseball and softball fields,” Puentes continued.
“We are extremely pleased with the finished product that was provided by GSS. The level of professionalism and commitment to excellence was second to none.” – Dr. Rickie R. Harris, Superintendent.
“We appreciate the opportunity to enhance the safety and performance of the West Orange-Stark High School student-athletes” John Baize, CEO of Act Global said. “Our partners General Sports and RS3 join us to support the school’s culture to empower lives through excellence every day’. We are excited that thousands of players in the community will enjoy the surface for many years to come!”
A grand opening ceremony for surrounding school administrators and coaches is taking place Tuesday, February 18th, at the West Orange-Stark baseball stadium.

Nearly 450 members of the Davezieux Football Club set foot on the recycled playing surface in early September.
Davezieux, France–Act Global partner, EDER, completed the 8,6111 square foot installation with a new woven system known as WXF50-M.
The artificial turf is designed to resemble natural grass in terms of appearance and playability.
“The playing time is unlimited whereas a classic terrain does not support more than 7 hours a day and is deteriorating then,” stated Christophe Giraud, commercial technician at EDER.
A trio of synthetic fibres are woven into an interlocked backing system to offer 100% tuft lock for unmatched durability. Water passes easily through the woven backing allowing the ground to dry quicker. Pile fixation and dimensional stability keep fibres standing vertical and resist matting.
“We are proud to be the first synthetic turf manufacturer to deliver a fully recyclable full size soccer pitch in France,” Act Global Technical Director Guillaume Loubersac said. “Congratulations to our partner EDER for the perfect installation, and the outstanding dedication to the players, coaches, and managers of Davezieux Football Club!”

After witnessing the large success and durability of Hayes Field since 2015, the district knew exactly who to turn to in the selection of synthetic turf for their Chambers Field. It was no question having seen it withstand flooding and snowstorms on top of its extensive daily usage each day over the course of four years.
Act Global partner, HERA SPORTS, installed a new Act Global Xtreme Turf BDX50 field for the school’s football, soccer and lacrosse teams. Like Hayes Field, the new Chambers Field will showcase GreenPlay’s custom infill blend of coconut fibers and cork and use the ProPlay-Sport23 product by Schmitz Foam. The ProPlay pad ensures that the playing surface is shock absorbent and safe to play on and the organic infill option helps support the movement of “going green”. This system will ensure adequate gradient drainage of water to help combat against harsh weather and flooding.
Now that the high school will have two synthetic fields at their disposal instead of one, the practice and game day schedule for their football, soccer and lacrosse teams will become easier and more flexible for years to come. The new field will be able to quickly fix past issues and help student-athletes continue to develop their skills and sportsmanship with the added playtime a synthetic turf field provides, approximately six times more than the average natural grass field.
“Act Global is honored to be chosen for the field replacement at their stadium, Chambers Field,” said Act Global General Manager for Sales and Operations, Jerry Harper. “The success of our BDX50 system at Hayes Field, Bronxville Union Free School Districts Multipurpose Field, provide the Broncos the most state-of-the-art facilities in the area.”
The school district, Act Global and HERA SPORTS are confident in the turf system for Chambers Field. The world-class turf company hopes to continue to touch the lives of the student body as much as it has with Hayes Field, serving the multitude of communities across the district.

The University of Sherbrooke has started renovation work of its track and field. Act Global partner, Carpell Surfaces, has been chosen to lead and install a new surface for the university’s upcoming races and major competitions, as well as provide removable synthetic grass goal areas, better known as removable end zones, for the football field located inside the track, with turf provided by Act Global! Currently, the Michel Leclerc group is completing the demolition work and the project should be completed before autumn! The future’s looking bright!
So, this begs the question: what are removable end zones and why are they so cool?
Removable end zones are easier to maintain because instead of having to paint new logos of competing teams onto existing end zone turf, new end zones can be manufactured and then swapped out. An example of a stadium doing this is the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It can often be too difficult to remove paint already used for logos and names and replace them with other teams. This makes the overall process easier.
Act Global and Carpell Surfaces are excited for these upcoming months! We look forward to bringing the university a one of a kind track and field with awesome removable end zones, second to none!
