Act Global Completes ALS #IceBucketChallenge

Act Global Austin does the #ALS #icebucketchallenge!

Beyond throwing icy cold water on our heads, Act Global is also supporting ALS research through donation. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, and eventually the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. According to a press release by the ALS Association, “As of Tuesday, August 26, The ALS Association has received $88.5 million in donations compared to $2.6 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 26).”

Act Global also supports several other charitable and world aid organizations around the world, such as World Vision, Conservation International and the Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation.

U-20 Women’s World Cup Final Played on Xtreme Turf

The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup played on Xtreme Turf at the Montreal Olympic Stadium. The artificial turf pitch was built by Carpell Surfaces and achieved FIFA Two Star Certification.

The final matches of the Under-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 commenced this weekend at the Montreal Olympic Stadium. A dramatic finale ended as Germany edged out Nigeria 1-0 in an extra-time goal. In the 3/4 place final, France beat Korea DPR 3-2 to secure the third overall tournament place.

The synthetic turf football pitch at Olympic Stadium was expertly installed by Carpell Surfaces, and features the latest Xtreme Turf artificial turf system from FIFA Preferred Producer Act Global.  This latest technology in artificial sports turf uses an exclusive diamond dual-fiber blend from Bonar Yarns. This ensures that artificial turf pitches built to these guidelines will mirror the playing characteristics of natural grass.

The Montreal Olympic Stadium pitch hosted a total of ten tournament games throughout the Women’s Word Cup. Congratulations to the winners and all the players for a fantastic tournament!
