Tinton Falls, NJ–The K-12 private school’s new field features Act Global’s Xtreme Turf Woven and ocean plastic infill making it 100% recyclable.
Ranney School partnered with Princeton Soccer Academy (PSA) to re-turf 80,000 square feet of its existing soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey surfaces.
“Our athletes, their families, field owners, and the environment deserve better. The Elite Turf POWER system [Xtreme Turf Woven]is a win for all parties, reducing exposure to toxic chemicals, helping to prevent injuries, cutting costs through its recyclability, and removing dangerous plastic from our oceans,” said Paul Adams, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Elite Turf. “Completing our first installation in the U.S. with Ranney School and Princeton Soccer Academy is an important milestone for us, and we look forward to introducing our product to additional athletic facilities and public and private institutions across the country in the coming months.”
Xtreme Turf Woven is completely recyclable at the end of its life due to a trio of synthetic fibers woven into an interlocked backing system, eliminating the need for a polyurethane backing. Water passes easily through the woven backing allowing soil to dry quicker, while fixation and dimensional stability keep the fibers standing vertically to resist matting.
The woven system is not only eco-friendly, but it offers performance benefits for the game of soccer such as consistent ball roll, steady footing, and reduced glare and heat.
Along with therecyclableturf system, Ranney School used Act Global’s ocean plastic infill which is salvaged ocean plastic synthesizes into an eco-friendly TPE infill.
“We are thrilled for Ranney School to be the first facility in the statesto install our woven system,” said John Baize Act Global found and CEO. “We are committed to providing safe and environmentally conscious surfaces to both our partners and to communities around the world.”
Ranney School is an independent, co-ed, secular college preparatory school serving children from age 3 to grade 12 offering an all-inclusive soccer program.
Act Global and Elite Turf plan to provide sustainableoptions for customers nationwide for years to come.

Act Global and adidas made a commitment to reduce the use of virgin plastics by co-donating a full-size multipurpose field with infill made from recycled ocean plastic.
Miami Edison High School resides in a low-income neighborhood where many areas can be dangerous places for kids to live and play. They deserve better opportunities to help them persevere and grow despite the unfortunate obstacles they’re forced to overcome. Studies have proven that sports can provide those, however, Miami Edison’s student-athletes were unable to play any home games due to a lack of proper playing surface. Adidas and Act Global changed that by co-donating a high-quality synthetic turf field, showing these kids that people do care and are willing to invest in them much like their teachers, coaches, and parents.
“We believe that through sport we have the power to change lives, and this field is a demonstration of our taking action on that belief. More than a place for these young athletes to play, it’s a reminder of our collective responsibility to end plastic waste,” said Cameron Collins, adidas North America’s director of football.
The athletes of Miami Edison High school set foot on the surface for the first time for a 7-on-7 tournament during Super Bowl LIV weekend where they took a pledge to avoid single-use plastic bottles.
“The inner-city Miami students are important with huge hearts and a bright future if we help them. They are no different than you or me but are in vastly different circumstances. Let’s all continue to work together to make this world a better place,” said John Baize, Act Global founder and CEO.

Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastics enter our ocean on top of the estimated 150 million metric tons that currently circulate our marine environments according to Parley for the Oceans.
Weengineered an innovative way to take salvaged ocean plastic and synthesize it into a TPE infill. Through this project, man-made pollution affecting oceans and coastal areas is reversed.
Ourinitiative to help reverse the pollution problem and invent ways to reuse plastic waste is a huge step in moving the synthetic turf industry toward greater levels of sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.
