The Countdown: Homeless World Cup 2018

Today marks 60 days out from one of our favorite events of the year. The Homeless World Cup is the culmination of a year’s work to positively impact those affected by homelessness and to help change the perception of these individuals. The Homeless World Cup Foundation uses football as a mutual human connection to bring homeless people out of isolation and challenge them to share and communicate with others. By charging them with the responsibility to be active participants in something larger than themselves, these individuals have the opportunity to feel empowered over their own lives again.

This year marks the 16th edition of the annual tournament and is expected to be one of the largest to date. As the tournament continues to grow and impact more lives across the world, Act Global is honored to continue to be involved in the tournament. The 2018 event in Mexico will be our 4th year as the synthetic turf sponsor. Each of us at Act Global is humbled each year by the lasting effects of the tournament and we are sure that this year will be no different.

Thank you, Homeless World Cup Foundation for continuing to push for social change throughout the world.

Turf Term: Durability

Many artificial grass systems claim to be long-lasting and durable, but what does this mean? How is durability measured when a synthetic turf field is meant to last close to a decade and used by a large variance of sports teams and exposed to different climatic conditions?

Act Global’s Xtreme Turf systems were developed based on years of research and development, a thorough benchmarking process against top natural grass fields, and a continuous drive to improve player safety and comfort. These factors have led us to engineer sport-specific turf systems that are proven to be durable through 100+ laboratory tests related to fiber breakdown, tensile strength, and color stability. For Act Global, durability means delivering a field that looks and performs as close to day 1 in year 8 as possible. By testing our turf with up to 130,000 Lisport cycles for both our monofilament and fibrillated yarns and exposing our fibers to 3,000 hours of UVA testing, we can confirm that our artificial grass can withstand extremely heavy use and intense climatic conditions. Our lineup of colors is vibrant for a beautiful field and certified to last by exceeding stringent international industry standards.

By putting the needs of players first, our stakeholders are the athletes, schools, and communities that utilize our fields every day. We are proud to be building better fields across the world for safer, more economical, and environmentally friendly sports facilities.

International Installation: CSV Apeldoorn

Since 1946, CSV Apeldoorn has been representing the Netherlands regional center of Apeldoorn in amateur football. The club has grown in size and skill since its inception and now encompasses multiple youth, adolescent, and competitive teams. CSV Apeldoorn’s top team competes in the second-highest league of football in the country.

This summer the club renovated a field within its sportpark to a superior playing surface from Act Global. The Xtreme Turf DX artificial grass system used for the club is incredibly comfortable for athletes and offers consistent play. This is the second field within the Sportpark to feature the DX system, and Act Global was humbled to be selected for another playing surface within the club. We are honored to be trusted to keep CSV Apeldoorn’s athletes safe and cannot wait to watch the continued growth of the club.

The field was completed earlier this month and was ready for immediate use.

International Installation: Motorul Stadium

FC UTA Arad, also known as The Old Lady, has roots dating back over 70 years of almost instant success including two championship titles. The team stayed competitive throughout the country for several years before entering a sharp decline that led to its disbanding in 2014. Several key individuals, including a former player, did not accept that this was the end for UTA Arad and started a new team under the name UTA Bătrâna Doamnă.  The team has fought its way to regain support from the community and fans after restarting from the 2014 ashes of the original team. In just a few years the new club had risen in rankings from Liga IV (the fourth level within the Romanian football system) to Liga II. Last year the team recovered the name FC UTA Arad as the official and legal successor of the original team.

UTA Arad’s current home ground is the recently renovated Motorul Stadium. This year the local stadium was expanded to double the seating capacity and the natural grass field was replaced with a world-class synthetic turf system. The artificial grass surface features a monofilament, diamond-shaped fiber that is specialized to support soccer players. The carefully crafted Xtreme Turf field is fast but firm so that athletes can move quickly and safely without fear excess fatigue that can lead to injuries of the lower extremities.

UTA Arad currently ranks 3rd within Liga II and has a stacked fall season of matches.

Citrus College Joins the Ranks of World-Class Stadiums with New Xtreme Turf Field

The new synthetic grass field installed by The KYA Group offers a professional level sports system to Southern California Schools.

Austin, TX- This summer, Citrus College elected to revitalize its main multipurpose field with leading synthetic turf technology. The KYA Group expertly installed Xtreme Turf before practice for the 2018 season began.

As a replacement for the outdated field, this turf system was selected for its reputation for safety and strength. The Citrus College Stadium has a long history of being used as a filming destination, therefore the field must remain camera-ready throughout the year. Xtreme Turf combines science with aesthetics to be safe for athletes, durable against damage, and beautiful for fans.

Citrus College’s new turf offers a bright and bold surface solution for a field that is utilized by multiple sports teams. The vivid markings make it easy for players and fans to distinguish their respective field lines. Finished off with a bold blue and orange border, the synthetic turf field rests beautifully in front of the college’s mountainous surroundings.

“The field couldn’t look better,” comments KYA Regional Director Andrea Ivey while visiting the site after completion. “We can’t wait to get players on the field so they can experience the turf themselves- we know the coaches are excited for game day.”
