Act Global Launches New Web Domain www.ActGlobal.com
Austin, TX (July 10, 2013)
Worldwide synthetic turf manufacturer’s growth and expansion into new segments prompts decision to acquire a new web domain.
To reflect their growing position in multiple segments within the synthetic turf market, Act Global Sports has launched a new website www.ActGlobal.com. While the company was founded on sports turf, Act Global has added product lines over recent years for landscaping, aviation and landfill uses.
The company utilized an intermediary to acquire the premium web domain from another USA firm in an unrelated industry. While its corporate branding will reflect the Act Global brand, there is no change to any corporate legal structures around the world.
John Baize, managing director of Act Global, explains that this decision reflects both the company’s strategy and its corporate values. “Our innovation strategy starts with key concepts of synthetic turf – the numerous environmental, aesthetic and land use benefits – and applies it across multiple applications through research and development investments. As our business and product offerings continue to grow, it is important that our brand stays relevant across our widening segments,” said Baize.
According to Baize, the firm’s “Be More” tagline also conveys Act Global’s mission to continually improve every facet of its business. Whether product technology, relationships with its valuable partners, maintaining a sustainable business model, or lending support to world aid organizations, Act Global is focused on being socially-conscious and a leader in the business community. Act Global actively supports organizations such as CARE, World Vision and Conservation International.
For the new ActGlobal.com, Baize said the company wanted a modern, energetic and approachable look. The redesigned site features a black background with bold accent colors, simple navigation and an interactive home page displaying the company’s social media feeds, a video player and rotating news images. Visitors can easily navigate the company’s business segments, corporate information, product range, testing data, and industry information such as artificial turf installation guidelines, synthetic turf maintenance guidelines, the FIFA Quality Concept for Football Turf, natural grass benchmark studies and more. The website is translated into nine different languages to reach the company’s global market.
While the company still focuses largely on synthetic sports turf, artificial turf is also a natural fit for a variety of other applications. LiteEarth has a patent pending earth capping system, which permanently merges synthetic turf to an EPDM membrane for long-term closure of landfills, coal ash and gypsum deposits. The company also manufactures lines of aviation turf, golf turf, pet turf, landscape turf and more.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AUSTIN, TX
Proprietary coating application adds resilience and extends useful life of synthetic turf.
Austin, Texas USA (November 5, 2012) — Act Global Sports, a synthetic turf manufacturer with installations in 70 countries, has selected innovative components from BASF to offer a proprietary secondary coating application XtremeLok that will improve tuft bind and increase the life of their artificial turf system.
The technology enhancement improves the locking of the grass fibers into the turf backing, referred to as tuft bind, a result of continued research, development and comparison testing across varying coating technologies. The benefits of XtremeLok are improved quality, durability and longevity of the turf.
John Baize, director at Act Global, said he is pleased with the pace in which the company is introducing leading technologies into the synthetic turf market. “This product enhancement continues our position as a technology and performance-focused firm,” said Baize. “Act Global is committed to investing in scientific testing to produce high-quality products to ensure our turf systems can withstand years of all-weather and intense use.”
The XtremeLok coating has already been utilized in Act Global’s 1.4 million square foot installation at the United States Air Force Academy runways as well as the Highland Heritage Park in Douglas County, Colorado. The results have met the stringent U.S. Air Force Academy requirements and the Highland project achieved a tuft bind of 12.75 pounds (56.7N). The product feature is now available to all sports, aviation and landscaping customers who require tier-one quality.
Both Act Global and BASF are committed to promoting social responsibility. Act Global has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact for seven years, and BASF is a founding member. Synthetic turf for many years has been associated with a number of social benefits through increased opportunities for physical activity and participation in sports. However, as drought conditions continue to strain the availability of clean drinking water, the need for water conservation increases. The Synthetic Turf Council estimates between three to six billion gallons of water are conserved annually from the use of synthetic turf.

Patented technology provides airport ground safety enhancements and erosion control
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Austin, Texas USA
Synthetic turf has been around for decades to provide maintenance, environmental and durability alternatives to natural grass. As the technology has improved, the number of applications for synthetic turf has also increased.
The latest use for artificial turf has been developed by aviation surface technology experts AvTurf LLC. AvTurf has developed and patented an artificial turf system that solves many of the challenges of airport managers. The AvTurf system can replace the natural turf groundcover at an airport to control erosion issues, significantly reduce the debris-causing effects of jet blast, deter birds and animals, and stabilize runway/taxiway shoulders and infield islands. It also enhances visibility to pilots on approach, reduces maintenance needs in safety areas, and provides stable areas for emergency response vehicles to drive through the turf and directly to a situation.
AvTurf’s Vice President of Sales and Operations Daniel McSwain comments, “We are very pleased to have entered into this exclusive strategic alliance with ACT Global Sports. They are a leading artificial grass manufacturer with an excellent reputation for integrity and technical expertise. ACT Global is also known to have some of the highest quality standards in the industry. When installing the system in an airport, durability and safety during jet blast is of utmost importance. ACT Global’s ability to market, manufacture and execute large scale projects around the world is extremely attractive for us.”
John Baize, Director of ACT Global states, “AvTurf has pioneered an excellent application for synthetic turf. We are impressed by their patent portfolio, unique system design and installation technology. This combination along with our manufacturing strength and network of global distribution partners will enable a tremendous growth opportunity. With backgrounds in aviation, airport security and the military, the AvTurf team demands the highest level of safety and quality. We appreciate their trust in us to deliver this.”
The AvTurf system technology is already a proven success. AvTurf and ACT Global are working together on important airport projects at Boston Logan International (BOS) and Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI). There are also multiple AvTurf installations around the world and the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has received numerous support and test data from AvTurf. In fact, the FAA confirmed and cited that, “the main reason for the use of artificial turf instead of natural turf is to mitigate soil erosion, which creates potentially damaging debris. Secondary considerations for use of artificial turf were found to be abatement of turf management/low maintenance, wildlife control, and visual enhancement.”
ACT Global Sports is headquartered in Austin, Texas with manufacturing locations in Calhoun, Georgia, Asia and Europe. It services its international clients through offices in The Netherlands, Cyprus, China, Poland, Thailand, UK and France. Local sales and support is offered through an expanding partner network of leading contractors in over 50 countries.
