The 2018 Super Bowl is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2018, and will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Minnesota Vikings have played with extra heart this season, competing for the opportunity to win their first Super Bowl at their home stadium. Currently, the Vikings are ranked 3rd and 4th, depending on the source, placing them in a good position to earn a spot in the playoffs.
After the Vikings’ win on December 3rd against the Falcons, the Vikings were tied for the NFL’s best record through 12 games and held the number one seed in the NFC. The Vikings lost to the Panthers this past weekend in North Carolina- the team’s third loss in the regular season.
This Sunday the Vikings will be home at U.S. Bank Stadium, taking on the Bengals at 12:00 PM.

Yesterday’s game had stakes for both the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants when they met at MetLife Stadium. The Cowboys went in needing a win in each of their final four games for an opportunity to make it to the playoffs, and the Giants were defending their home field after a chaotic week with the team’s management.
The Giants were hoping to make a comeback with Eli Manning off the bench and back in his usual starting quarterback position. By halftime, it was unclear who would come out on top when both teams were tied at 10-10. Neither team was performing with precision, which resulted in a first half filled with nine punts and a missed field goal. By the end of the third quarter, the score was still at a standstill with neither team making a real effort to score.
It wasn’t until the final quarter that the game picked up some heat. The Cowboys began to capitalize on the mistakes of the Giants to score three touchdowns and secure their victory. Dallas’ offense picked up to close out the game where quarterback Dak Prescott threw 332 yards and wide receivers Dez Bryant and Cole Beasley and running back Rod Smith each ran the ball to the end zone.
MetLife Stadium has featured Act Global UBU synthetic turf since 2013.

AvTurf is a synthetic turf system that provides comprehensive ground safety enhancements and erosion control to make airplane takeoffs and landings more effective and efficient. Modern airports around the world face similar hazards that impact their runways and taxiways including foreign object debris (FOD), bird strikes, erosion, drainage, wildlife management and visual recognition concerns. Natural grass ground covers can exacerbate these issues due to unavoidable climatic characteristics and animal inhabitants of the area.
AvTurf combats these threats in airport safety with a durable, attractive, and cost-effective synthetic turf solution that required minimal year-round maintenance. This has been proven through hundreds of quality assurance tests, each that reiterate the fact that AvTurf achieves the highest performance standards of airport ground safety in all critical areas. The assessments of AvTurf include wind tunnel and burn tests to analyze resistance to jet blasts and flammability, drainage tests to prove its ability to accommodate heavy rainfall, load-bearing tests to consider ultra-heavy loads-such as large aircraft emergency response equipment, and ASTM to verify compliance with the FAA Advisory Circular 150/5370-15B.
Due to AvTurf’s reputation as a premier safety surface for aviation, and its ability to demonstrate such assertion, it has been successfully installed across the globe to eliminate specific hazards in some of the largest and busiest airports.
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is the primary airport serving the New York City area, and the most frequented international air passenger gateway into North America-serving almost 60 million passengers in 2016. In 2007, AvTurf was contracted by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to install a surface that would control erosion and FOD. With the approaching arrival of a new line of jumbo jets, AvTurf served as an alternative to constant runway closures that were previously necessary to clean up debris blown onto intersecting runways from the airport’s natural groundcover. In addition, the synthetic turf surface aids in, combating drainage problems, mitigating wildlife management, and minimizing maintenance for the selected plot of AvTurf.

In the recent years since Christopher Columbus High School renovated their football field, the team has never not made it to the semifinals of playoffs. This is in addition to a long history of outstanding performance that includes consistently making it to the semifinals as well as competed for the state title 3 years ago. The Act Global-manufactured synthetic turf surface is a professional-quality system that is distinctly engineered to offer superior player safety and comfort. The artificial grass is composed of balancing system components to improve foot stability and foot interaction with the surface, prevent ligament stress and allow safe starts and stops, and reduce player fatigue and injury. With the backing of over 100 laboratory tests and benchmarks against the top natural grass field (Texas A&M), Act Global synthetic turf is proven to both protect players and remain a durable surface for years. This allows the Explorers to be confident that the surface they are playing on is consistent.
You are able to watch the game live streamed tomorrow night here.
Good luck to the Explorers!

Last month the United States Air Force Academy earned its 31st consecutive victory in the 2017 National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) Region 1 competition. The regional competition took place October 9-October 13 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the US Air Force Academy Airfield.
NFIA is a professional organization that is devoted to developing and advancing aviation education for students across the US by providing an opportunity for competition. Each competition is held periodically throughout the year and is divided by region. The Air Force Academy competes in Region 1, which also includes Colorado Northwestern Community College, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Rocky Mountain College, Utah State University, Utah Valley University, and Westminster College.
The regional competition consisted of both academic and flying tests that are used to gauge knowledge of flight rules, aircraft identification, and cross-country planning with in-air analysis of navigation, landing, and message dropping abilities. The Air Force Academy’s flight team is committed performing well at the event- Harrison Summerour, a member of the team, said they “dedicate a tremendous amount of time, many hours a week, and even some of our class schedule to being on this team”.
Congratulations to the Air Force Academy’s team on a well-deserved win last month! We’re proud to play a part in the training of Air Force Academy pilots through their synthetic turf landing strip. The sailplane landing area has served the school since 2011 where about 50% of cadets from each class begin courses in soaring sailplanes and glider jets.
Good luck to the Air Force Academy’s Flight Team on future competitions!
