Concord Sports Center FINAL 1Concord Sports Center is a multipurpose indoor sports facility that serves the greater Concord, New Hampshire community.  Since opening in 2006, the sports facility has grown to offer batting cage, practice field, and indoor driving range rentals, private instruction, year-round camps and clinics, and summer tournaments.  The facility is filled with staff who are passionate about the games of baseball and softball that work with kids of all ages to improve talent and explain skill.  Concord Sports Center is also home to the Concord Cannons Travel Baseball and Softball Program, an organization that is committed to developing players both on and off the field.  By providing a positive experience in the field through performance and competition, young players are able to learn the game while benefiting from the physical and mental effects of active play.

Act Global had the opportunity to work with Concord Sports Center to manufacture the facility’s newest indoor synthetic turf field.  Concord Sports Center utilizes the artificial grass for practices for baseball, softball, football, soccer, lacrosse, and other field sports.  The turf from Act Global is professional quality with superior safety enhancements that perform under the highest intensity situations.  This will allow Concord Sports Center to provide practice space to more athletes for more hours, year round.

Good Luck to the Concord Cannons going into the 2018 season!

Gallery: Marin Catholic’s Bishop Daly Synthetic Turf Field

Marin Catholic’s Bishop Daly field is a multipurpose synthetic turf facility in Kentfield, California.  For 15 years leading up to this past August, the high school student-athletes were facing safety concerns and hazards revolving around the previous natural grass and bordering vegetation.

Our awesome partners at The KYA Group arranged this complete field renovation for the Wildcats.  The most noticeable part of this install is the baseball diamond and outfield crafted from Act Global artificial grass.  Our baseball turf is not only proven to be the most durable fibrillated yarn product on the market, but it is also benchmarked against top natural grass training facilities, including the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros.  Because of the extensive research and development that has gone into our baseball turf, the Wildcats have a consistent surface for peak player performance.

The unrivaled durability of our yarn is essential to providing an excellent multi-play experience.  Bishop Daly field is utilized by the field hockey team in the fall and the baseball team in the spring.  While the baseball team now has an unparalleled playing surface, the field hockey team too now has a professional hockey system.

Cal Ripken World Series Being Competed on Synthetic Turf

Ballparks-of-America

The prestigious international tournament for baseball’s youth teams is currently being hosted at Ballparks of America, a facility with five fields completely outfitted with synthetic turf.

Ballparks of America is a baseball experience that allows youth players to become immersed in the Major League feel.  It started 17 years ago when three dads had a vision to bring back the joy of baseball and the sense of belonging it creates for players and families.  Baseball of America was created to be a destination to learn about the history of the sport and for youths to play it themselves.  The campus features miniature versions of five of the most iconic stadiums across the US: the Saint Louis stadium, the Chicago field, the Boston park, the Detroit field, and the Brooklyn field.  These 2/3 sized pitches were created to perfectly match the dimensions and elements that make each stadium unique.  All of the stadiums are complete with the latest synthetic turf technology that allows for consistent and nonstop play throughout the summer months.  This is crucial for the play-ability of this facility which has held 19 tournaments from March of this year to August.

Today is the final day of one of Ballparks of America’s most notable events- the Cal Ripken World Series.  This tournament is the culmination event of the Babe Ruth League’s Cal Ripken Major/70 Tournament Trail.  Throughout the past week 8 U.S Regional Champions and 8 International teams have been facing off to win the CRWS title, and tonight the two finalist teams will face off.  The game will be streamed live at 6:55 (CT) on the Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series facebook page, where Atlantic Beach, FL will be competing against Japan!

We’re excited to see how these boys perform, and couldn’t be happier that this tournament is being played on our artificial grass.  As a company committed to player safety, we’re honored to be the surface for which these teams play on.  We wish the best of luck to both the Japan and Florida team, and would like to congratulate each of the other 14 teams for their hard work this season.

Field Feature Friday: Belmont University Bruins

Since the addition of S5 synthetic turf to Rose Park, the university’s baseball team has played over 150 games at the facility.

The Bruins are a Division 1 baseball team located in Nashville, Tennessee.  Since their founding in 1954, the team has grown to excel both on and off the field.  In fact, the team was just recognized as part of the 2016-17 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Academic Honor Roll.   As one of only 38 Division 1 teams, the Bruins were acknowledged for their combined cumulative GPA of over a 3.0.  We at Act Global commend the coaches and athletes for their efforts for success in the classroom.

Their home stadium, Rose Park, is part of Nashville’s historic Edgehill Civil War battleground area and serves as a community facility.  The Bruins upgraded their field to feature S5-R synthetic turf in October of 2011.  Through excellent coaching (and the confidence that comes with an unparalleled new playing surface), the team went on to win the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship the following season.  Since 2011, the team has always placed within the top 9 of their conference.

We congratulate the Belmont Bruins on their ABCA Academic Honor Roll standing, and can’t wait to hear about the many future accomplishments of the team!
