One of the biggest factors in making the switch to synthetic turf is the reduction in time associated with maintenance. With little upkeep, the field is available for more hours of use. Because of this, it is important for the turf to have high permeability backing. Permeability can be related to a drainage system within the turf.

However permeable the turf is, is how much excess water it will allow to pass through it. This is an important part of the turf because it allows teams to get back on the field quicker after rainstorms. With natural grass, the water builds up and sits in the grass for a long time. Most players can’t play with large puddles of water scattered all over a field, so they must wait until they can fix back up the field after every major rainstorm. With permeable synthetic turf, the water drains right through and allows the field to be a safe environment after each rain storm without taking time away for maintenance.
All of Act Global’s turf has permeable backing at the base of it in order to accommodate local weather and rainfall conditions. A permeable back for the turf is not only useful for sports fields but also for homeowner lawns as well. Standing water usually turns into mud after heavy rainstorms if you have natural grass. Having a wet and muddy backyard is not ideal for appearance reasons and limits the use of a backyard for everyday activities. With synthetic turf, the need for immediate maintenance to avoid mud in one’s backyard is not necessary. Permeability is important for every type of synthetic turf.

This weekend was a busy one on our turf. With both wins and losses, it was an eventful two days for some of our favorite teams.
Saturday, November 10th

Unfortunately, the Houston Cougars took an L from the Temple Owls Saturday with an ending score of 49 to 59. It was a tough loss for the Cougars with a score that close. Their offense fought hard but Temple scored their final field goal in the fourth that sealed their win against the Cougars. Click the link below for more highlights! We are excited to see them play another one of our favorite teams, the Tulane Green Wave this Thursday on our turf!
This Saturday was a win for the Tulane Green Wave against the East Carolina Pirates with an ending score of 24 to 18. This was the third straight victory for Tulane, making it the first time they have had three consecutive wins in the American conference since 2013. The Pirates still put up a good fight against the Green Wave, making it an exciting game. We are so proud of Tulane and can’t wait to see their battle against the Cougars this Thursday. Our team will definitely be watching that one!
Sunday, November 11th

Act Global CEO John Baize with Turf Expert Jim Brown at the Jets vs. Bills game
This Sunday was a sad loss for one of our favorite NFL teams. The New York Jets took a hard fall to the Buffalo Bills 10 to 41. The Jets have a bye week this week and are back to play the Patriots on Sunday the 25th. We hope to see the Jets turn their game around and come back ready to dominate the Patriots. We wish them the best!
This was an interesting weekend on our turf, to say the least. We hope all of our favorite teams get the rest they need and are ready to kill it these next few weeks of Football. Check out next weekend’s recap to see results for some of the biggest games on our turf!

Act Global’s Xtreme Turf SX was installed in Hayu Village, China for a new field that will be used as a local recreational facility for the people in the community and tourists who visit. This field is designed to enhance player experience as well as keep the appearance of the field as close to natural grass as possible.
Having a recreational field is a way to encourage community activity. Recreational fields provide access for the community to join together and encourage one another to get outdoors and be active, whether it’s competitively or for fun. Because these fields are suitable for a number of different sports, they serve as a huge advantage for the citizens.

Act Global’s Xtreme Turf SX was chosen for its bicolor grass that closely resembles natural turf as well as for the straight and durable yarns it has. All of Act Global’s Turf goes through verified testing to ensure safety and durability for all players. With synthetic turf, intense upkeep is not needed. The Hayu Village community will be able to utilize this field constantly without having to take time off to maintain the field, making it a convenient place for games or practices for the entire city.
“We are honored to have been chosen for Hayu Village’s recreational field. One of Act Global’s goals is to impact the communities we live in and the earth we inhabit. Being a part of this new recreational field for this city falls in line with that goal and we are thankful for the opportunity,” says Daniel Clapham, Act Global’s Regional Manager.

Tons of people are making the switch to synthetic turf for various reasons. Whether it’s to escape the extensive maintenance of natural grass or to be more environmentally friendly, synthetic turf is a cost-effective way to have the look and feel of natural grass without the upkeep of it. The durability of the synthetic turf is extremely important to ensure that the turf can handle various sports activities in a safe manner for all athletes, as well as making sure the turf can withstand different climatic conditions over time.

Act Global’s turf goes through verified testing that exposes the turf to 3,000 hours of UVA testing for intense climatic conditions and up to 130,000 Lisport cycles to test tensile strength. By testing our turf for maximum durability and safety, we eliminate any blossoming. Blossoming is a term that can be related to degradation. This is when the synthetic turf degrades and becomes very worn. Within the monofilament or fibrillated yarn, different infills are put in to help the stability of the yarn itself, keeping the turf dense. If the yarns blossom, it makes the infill less helpful and can make the turf field dangerous for athletes. The more durable the synthetic turf field is, the safer it is and the longer it lasts. With the use of this testing, we can ensure that our turf does not blossom.

By recognizing the importance of durability in synthetic turf, Act Global is able to put the safety and performance needs of athletes first by using our testing tools. We are proud to be a synthetic turf company that builds fields around the world for safer, more economical, and environmentally friendly sports facilities.

Lake Elsinore Unified School District is a public school district located in Lake Elsinore, California. Earlier this year, three of the high schools within this district upgraded to new turf fields for many different sports. The Lake Elsinore student-athletes are now benefiting from each of these new turf fields from Act Global’s Xtreme Turf.
The Elsinore High School students now have a turf field for football, soccer, softball, and new track event areas. Lakeside High School, another high school within the school district, has received similar amenities along with a new turf stadium baseball field. Temescal Canyon High School received a new running track, along with two new turf softball fields and one new turf baseball field.

The Lake Elsinore school district used Act Global’s Xtreme Turf for these new fields to ensure their players a professional-level quality playing field that is durable yet safe for each of these sports. Each of these high schools is 4A division school that is heavily engaged in all school sports. It is important that these schools have fields that can help these students safely excel in performance.
Having synthetic turf fields for different sports allows more playing time for the athletes. Without as much maintenance, no time will have to be taken off of the fields. This allows each of these teams to utilize the fields during offseason to help better prepare them for the competitive season and their overall success.
