Marlborough Panthers’ New Home Field

Marlborough Panthers’ New Home Field

Nestled in central Massachusetts, Marlborough is a quaint town with a rich history that dates back to 1657.  The town has grown from a small New England settlement into a center for high-technology industries.  Marlborough High School is the main 9-12 grade educational facility in the town and serves just over 1000 students each year.  The school is committed to 21st-century learning with an emphasis on academic, social, and civic expectations.  Act Global recently finished working with the high school to install a new synthetic turf baseball and soccer field for the Marlborough Panthers.

The Marlborough Panthers baseball team has proven itself as an esteemed program by earning winning multiple prominent championships within the local community.  Throughout its history, the Panthers became league champions in 1984, 1986, 1987, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2012, in addition to being central Massachusetts champions and state championship finalists in 2003.  The Panther soccer team performed exceptionally well in the 2017 season, ending the season at the 7th ranked team in the state and a winning 19-2 record.  The Panthers went all the way to the semifinals before an upsetting defeat by one point that kept the team from competing for the championship title.

The new synthetic baseball and soccer turf will be a consistent and safe surface that will allow the Panthers to perform at their peal.  Act Global artificial grass is engineered and tested with proven technology to remove bad hops, supply extreme durability, and provide excellent drainage.  Each of these factors means that the teams can practice harder and for more hours a week without the constant disruptions of rest time and maintenance.   The synthetic turf system offers many practical benefits that make it the superior surface choice, while also providing a stunningly aesthetic pitch that will remain beautiful regardless of the weather or season.

Good luck to the Marlborough Panthers going into the 2018 season!

The Minnesota Vikings have played with extra heart this season, competing for the opportunity to win their first Super Bowl at their home stadium.  Currently, the Vikings are ranked 3rd and 4th, depending on the source, placing them in a good position to earn a spot in the playoffs.

After the Vikings’ win on December 3rd against the Falcons, the Vikings were tied for the NFL’s best record through 12 games and held the number one seed in the NFC. The Vikings lost to the Panthers this past weekend in North Carolina- the team’s third loss in the regular season.

This Sunday the Vikings will be home at U.S. Bank Stadium, taking on the Bengals at 12:00 PM.

National Pingtung University Achieves FIFA Quality Pro Certification

Fourth FIFA Certified Xtreme Turf field in Taiwan demonstrates the value of international and local partners in delivering a successful field.

24796791_10155340649831747_7636222434839797838_nAustin, TX- Act Global and it’s local partner Full Ju Enterprise recently collaborated to develop a new high-performance football turf system, combining the globally renowned DX60 with earth yellow EPDM and customized drainage pad manufactured locally to deliver this FIFA Quality Pro certified field.

Xtreme Turf DX60 had already achieved multiple FIFA certificates in Taiwan in recent years and when looking to develop a new system to meet the new 2015 FIFA Test Manual standards, selecting this turf was an easy choice given its proven track record in Taiwan weather and usage conditions.

A yellow EPDM performance infill was selected to offer a natural look to the field and enhance the vibrant colors of the DX fiber and offer the university the vibrant colors they wanted in their showcase field. The introduction of a locally manufactured drainage pad protects the field from flooding, an important factor considering the damaging effect of an inadequate drainage system on-field performance. carefully selecting the best available local materials reduced costs of freight and import duties, meaning budget was available for the turf selection to focus on choosing the very best turf in the global market.

The Xtreme Turf DX60 was manufactured in our Calhoun USA facility and by combining the turf with the best available local materials the result is a field that meets the highest international standards whilst maintaining a local flavor.

Daniel Clapham, Regional Manager says, “this collaboration has been a good example of the benefits of close collaboration between global and local expertise and resources to deliver an affordable elite performance field, I would like to thank Full Ju Enterprise for their involvement in providing the best local materials and workmanship to deliver our fourth FIFA Certified field in Taiwan”

NFL Recap: New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium

MetLife Entrance RetYesterday’s game had stakes for both the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants when they met at MetLife Stadium.  The Cowboys went in needing a win in each of their final four games for an opportunity to make it to the playoffs, and the Giants were defending their home field after a chaotic week with the team’s management.

The Giants were hoping to make a comeback with Eli Manning off the bench and back in his usual starting quarterback position.  By halftime, it was unclear who would come out on top when both teams were tied at 10-10.  Neither team was performing with precision, which resulted in a first half filled with nine punts and a missed field goal.  By the end of the third quarter, the score was still at a standstill with neither team making a real effort to score.

IMG_6295It wasn’t until the final quarter that the game picked up some heat.  The Cowboys began to capitalize on the mistakes of the Giants to score three touchdowns and secure their victory.  Dallas’ offense picked up to close out the game where quarterback Dak Prescott threw 332 yards and wide receivers Dez Bryant and Cole Beasley and running back Rod Smith each ran the ball to the end zone.

MetLife Stadium has featured Act Global UBU synthetic turf since 2013.
