Field Feature Friday: Strength and Durability of The Woodlands

The Act Global team has been working away just outside Houston, Texas, checking up on the bear branch community soccer fields in The Woodlands. The installation of our Xtreme Turf at this large, multifield complex was completed throughout 2012 and 2013 to satisfy the growing needs and number or sports enthusiasts within the city. The artificial grass fields have since served as all-weather surfaces for daily practices and recreational play alongside competitive tournaments for local teams.

Despite years of opportunities for wear and tear of the turf systems, upon a thorough inspection of the fibers, infill, and overall aesthetic of the park, it has been found that the fields have remained in impeccable shape. Our team has been working to revitalize the many fields, but have found that our comprehensive maintenance procedure is not as necessary as would-be expected after 5-6 years of continuous use. The fibers of the Xtreme Turf system display no evidence of breakage throughout the park, and the infill is still soft and has not compacted.

Act Global’s specialized deep grooming process is aiding in the continuous assurance of fiber upkeep. For the community members of The Woodlands, this maintenance means that they will have consistent and safe high-performance fields for years to come.

Installation Play-By-Play: St. John Vianney High School

Saint John Vianney High School is a community staple within Holmdel, New Jersey and has gained national recognition for its commitment to excellence in all aspects of a student’s education, including athletics. This is built from a foundation in nurturing student’s passions and fostering growth and development with the use of first-class resources. The school focuses on building well-rounded student-athletes with access to over 30 varsity teams and 30 more clubs.

Within the school’s 38-acre campus is a host of athletic facilities for student use and most notoriously of these is the synthetic turf athletic stadium. This stadium brings together members of the community for games throughout the week for many different teams. The already-beloved stadium is currently under construction to further enhance the facility with a new artificial grass system that is designed for athletic safety within multiple sports. The SJV athletic complex will be at the forefront of performance and have the capacity to serve as a reliable sports facility for the football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey teams.

Construction will be completed on the athletic complex in time for practice for fall sports to kick off in August.

Field Feature Friday: Celebrating Soccer Worldwide

Today kicked off the quarterfinals of the biggest competition in soccer with 8 teams still in the running to be the 2018 champions. This competition draws in the audience of about half the world’s population and is consistently ranked in the top watched sporting events. The 32 teams that started in the tournament spent the past 4 years preparing and fighting for their spot, and over the past few weeks, the competition has dwindled to 8. Each of these teams represents their counties from around the world and although they are currently rivals competing for the renowned title, they are united by their love for the game.

Act Global celebrates athletes and the dedication they have for their sports. We aim to empower players and teams to continue to propel forward and grow their sport. We do this by equipping teams with synthetic turf surfaces that are built to surpass strict international benchmarks for safety, functionality, and performance. Act Global’s first priority in engineering artificial grass systems is with the athletes and the needs they have for a sports field. Today we celebrate soccer players around the world by showcasing some of our favorite international football fields that have helped players of all ages and skill levels play harder and longer.

Germany:

Recently this 92-year old German soccer club, SSV Rhade, constructed this new synthetic turf field at their practice facility.

Kuwait:

In 2017 the Al Islah community in Kuwait celebrated the opening of three community football fields that have helped to expand the neighborhood’s opportunity to participate in both recreational and competitive play.

Canada:

This Canadian football pitch was installed in 2014 by our partner Carpell Surfaces for a university in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. Upon installation, the field was certified as FIFA quality, recognizing the quality of the field.

Dominican Republic:

This installation was a complete revamp of the previous field. SM Sport helped transform the previously decrepit sports space into a world-class field for the community.

Act Global will continue to celebrate all athletes around the world and innovate superior fields for their benefit.

Installation Play-By-Play: AZC Zutphen

Earlier this summer the Zutphen, Netherlands based soccer club AZC updated the surface of one of its main practice fields to the technological efficiency and playability of Xtreme Grass. The hybrid system was chosen due to the stabilization properties that allow the club’s 40 teams to play on the surface without losing the integrity of the natural grass.

Our team went to visit the club this week to asses the growth of the natural grass within the synthetic turf system.  The installation of Xtreme Grass takes more time than a traditional synthetic turf field because after the woven-backing system is placed, seeding of the natural grass and growth must occur. AZC is currently in step 4 of the installation process. Zutphen is undergoing an abnormally hot and dry summer, so the Act Global team is following up with recommendations and assistance to ensure that the young, growing field is ready for fall training at the end of August.

Stay tuned for final field photos once the natural grass has fully grown in!

Field Feature Friday: Granja Comary Football Complex

Just over a week into the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and competition is fierce between each of the countries’ national teams. This morning was kicked off with a match between Brazil and Costa Rica where Brazil secured the win in the 90th minute of the game. Brazil’s next match will be Wednesday, June 25th against Serbia.

Leading up to the 2018 World Cup, the Brazillian National Team has trained at their home facility, Granja Comary (CBF). The training center was completely revamped in 2014 to feature state of the art amenities for the athletes and offer superior training throughout their offseason. Part of the renovations to the center included the installation of a FIFA 2-star rated artificial grass field from Act Global.

Act Global is honored to have such an esteemed team practice on our Xtreme Turf system. Xtreme Turf is utilized around the world in facilities ranging from elite professional stadiums to local community-centric training centers. Act Global’s commitment to engineering synthetic turf systems that meet natural grass benchmarks gives athletes a reliable sports surface that allows them to transition between different field surfaces without interference.

Artificial grass also allows players and teams to practice harder in the offseason so that they can better prepare for competition. With no limitation on the playability hours of the field, the Brazillian National Team has no limitation on how it practices in preparing for worldwide competitions.

Good luck to each of the teams of this year’s competition, we look forward to continuing watching the gathering of so many world-class athletes.
