Mercedes-Benz Superdome Turf Provides New Opportunities for Kansas Town

The professional synthetic turf system from Act Global has been relocated as part of a donation project by KTX Sports Construction to Jefferson West School District for widespread community use.

Austin, TX- Following the conclusion of the 2017 NFL season, KTX Sports Construction began the process of relocating one of the most prestigious artificial grass fields in the world to the northeastern Kansas town of Meriden. The relocation is part of a donation project from KTX Sports Construction’s Project 340.

Because the Mercedes-Benz Superdome installs a new artificial grass surface each year, each field is only utilized for eight regular NFL season games and two NCAA bowl games.  The state-of-the-art synthetic turf system from Act Global is engineered to withstand years of heavy use, making it a perfect solution for the town of Meriden looking to upgrade its high school athletic stadium.

“We have been looking into synthetic turf manufacturers for some time- weighing our options if you will. After meeting the people of Act global, and you match them with their unbelievable facilities and product, it was an obvious decision to team up with them! We look forward to building the field at Jefferson West and we can’t express how excited we are about future projects” -Jake Farrant -KTX Sports Construction, LLC owner.

“The Jefferson West School District is excited and proud to be working with both Act Global and the Superdome and to have the opportunity to install an NFL quality field in our community for our students. We anticipate that the quality of this turf field will provide many benefits to our student-athletes, band, cheer and dance squads, as well as our community at large. On behalf of the Jefferson West School District, I want to thank Act Global, the Superdome, and KTX Sports Construction for putting together this opportunity to provide a top-quality turf field for our students and community” – Pat Happer, Superintendent.

Act Global would like to thank KTX Sports Construction for organizing this exceptional project.

Leading the Way in Innovation: Footwear Best Practices

Act Global was founded with a mission to be more than just a synthetic turf manufacturer. With the pillars to be more, innovate more, and play more, Act Global is committed to creating the safest artificial grass systems available to protect athletes of all levels from injuries. In every facet of Act Global’s business culture, it has sought to address and service the needs of players with product. The exceptional quality of Act Global turf is a direct result of continuous investments into research and development, alongside benchmark and performance testing.

One area Act Global continues to research is the interaction between player’s footwear and a ground’s surface. Due to differentiation in footwear from sport to sport, changes in vertical deformation, traction, deceleration, and slip resistance within a surface may yield significant differences in safety and performance. Optimizing these factors to engineer balanced synthetic turf systems can reduce some of the most common injuries athletes face on the field. Artificial grass features numerous characteristics that enhance the system overall such as infill particle size, level of compaction, and fiber type, and the most common movements of sports can vary from straight running to slalom, cutting and turning maneuvers, and landing after jumps. These are important factors that directly affect how each Act Global turf system is designed. Act Global aims to use research to make artificial grass act as a piece of protective sports equipment by maximizing the interaction between shoes and surfaces.

Event: 2018 International Air and Space Fair

Just one day until the largest international fair for air and space kicks off in Santiago, Chile.

The International Air and Space Fair (FIDAE) is an aerospace, defense, and security exhibition with the mission to improve aviation safety and technology in all sectors. For four decades FIDAE has celebrated innovation within the industry and encouraged investment into research and development to continue its rapid progression. This year’s exhibition will be FIDAE’s 20th annual event and will bring together hundreds of companies headquartered in dozens of countries around the world into 8 exhibition halls. The event runs from April 3rd to April 8th with the last 2 days featuring multiple air shows by top pilots.

Act Global is excited to be in attendance at the event to showcase our AvTurf and Xtreme Turf systems. AvTurf is a synthetic turf surface that provides comprehensive ground safety enhancements and erosion control to make airplane takeoffs and landings more effective and efficient.  Modern airports around the world face similar hazards that impact their runways and taxiways including foreign object debris (FOD), bird strikes, erosion, drainage, wildlife management and visual recognition concerns.  Natural grass ground covers can exacerbate these issues due to unavoidable climatic characteristics and animal inhabitants of the area. AvTurf is a durable, attractive, and a cost-effective solution for 21st-century airports.

Xtreme Turf is a world-class sports turf brand from Act Global that has earned an array of FIFA-quality certifications and has been installed in over 80 countries across the world.
