Installation Play-by-Play: Diphu, India
Diphu is the headquarter city of the Karbi Anglong district within the state of Assam. The small city is home to mainly local tribal populations native to northeast India.
Diphu faces large amounts of rainfall throughout the summer months that easily overflow natural grass fields. This constant rain can last for weeks or even months on end. The monsoon season can leave communities without an outlet to get active or advance players into competitive athletes. This is not ideal for a city that recognizes football as its most popular sport. Adopted by most of the residents, it is significant for there to be a presence of sport within the city.

Tonight the Oregon Ducks are returning to the field for their season opener, at home, on Papé Field. It’s been a long 9 months since regular-season ended last November, but with a former star player for the team serving as Director of Operations for the team, the Ducks could have a knock-out season. In an exhibition game against Portland State, the Oregon Ducks dominated with a final score of 5-0.
The Ducks pride themselves to play at one of the school’s newest athletic facilities, Papé Field. The highly advanced field was designed to be technically sound for both the lacrosse and the soccer teams and have bigger-than-life school pride. Work is almost complete at the Holmdel, New Jersey high school, Saint John Vianney. Later this month the school will be opening its doors back up after the long summer months and will host practices and gamedays to its 30 different varsity teams and more secondary teams. The reopening of the renovated stadium is also scheduled for this month to show off the school’s new multi-sport synthetic turf field which will be utilized for the football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey teams.
