Championship Football Club, Queen of the South, required a world class 3G synthetic turf pitch to to ensure top playing performance and added durability to withstand heavy use.
To meet their needs, the Club chose artificial turf manufacturer Act Global and their latest innovation – Xtreme Turf WX Woven System. The breakthrough sports turf technology features a unique, advanced fibre yarn blend from Bonar Yarns, woven into an interlocked backing for excellent pile fixation and dimensional stability.
The resulting system offers superior ball roll, steady footing and enhanced player comfort for long-lasting, game changing performance.
What are the project details?
Act Global was selected to manufacture and install a new 3G state-of-the-art system for Scottish Championship team Queen of the South, proven to deliver top performance. The completed project presents many opportunities and benefits for the club, one of which ensures that postponed games are a thing of the past. This is exciting for Act Global, as more Football Clubs seek higher quality artificial turf due to its playability, added durability and all-weather advantages, as well as extra revenue generation through greater club and community use.
The pitch was certified FIFA Two Star, the highest mark of performance for elite level play.
Timeline and customer satisfaction?
The field took approximately 6 weeks to replace, completed at the end of July 2014. Chairman, players and coaching staff are all delighted with the artificial turf surface. A recent women’s international took place between Wales and Scotland and the feedback was that the pitch was “the best they had played on”.
What are the performance highlights of Xtreme Turf Woven WX50?
The synthetic turf system incorporates a woven manufacturing process to the surface backing, which locks yarns securely in place for 100% tuft lock. The unique manufacturing technique combined with the durable yarn technology gives the Queen of the South surface its ‘bounce back’ characteristic, offering the appearance of natural grass and allowing the yarn to stand upright. The combined elements of this project are also considered for better end of life recycling.
