Bronxville Union Free School District just upgraded their multipurpose field to Act Global synthetic turf.
The square-mile suburb outside of New York City is nationally recognized for excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. Not only was the high school ranked #5 overall in the country by Newsweek, but the town is known to attract successful artists looking to settle down.
The new artificial grass field will be a center point of athletics for the 1600 students enrolled at the high school. The synthetic turf system will be utilized by both the football teams, the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, and the soccer teams. The extensively engineered surface is unmatched in durability, meaning that each of the Broncos teams will have a consistent playing surface. Marin Catholic’s Bishop Daly field is a multipurpose synthetic turf facility in Kentfield, California. For 15 years leading up to this past August, the high school student-athletes were facing safety concerns and hazards revolving around the previous natural grass and bordering vegetation.
Our awesome partners at The KYA Group arranged this complete field renovation for the Wildcats. The most noticeable part of this install is the baseball diamond and outfield crafted from Act Global artificial grass. Our baseball turf is not only proven to be the most durable fibrillated yarn product on the market, but it is also benchmarked against top natural grass training facilities, including the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros. Because of the extensive research and development that has gone into our baseball turf, the Wildcats have a consistent surface for peak player performance.
The unrivaled durability of our yarn is essential to providing an excellent multi-play experience. Bishop Daly field is utilized by the field hockey team in the fall and the baseball team in the spring. While the baseball team now has an unparalleled playing surface, the field hockey team too now has a professional hockey system.

The Saturday morning game between the Army Black Knights and Tulane’s Green Wave was held at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana. Both teams were hoping to recover from losing the previous weekend to more talented teams. In the end, predictions placing Tulane on top proved to be correct when the Green wave beat out the Black Nights 21-17.
The game was close and Army held the lead for most of the second, third, and fourth quarter. In the last 30 seconds, Tulane scored a touchdown that put them at a four-point lead over the Black Nights. With such a small amount of time left on the clock, Army did not have time to recover.
Yulman Stadium had its grand opening in 2014 with a home opener for Tulane against former rival Georgia Tech. The game sold out all 30,000 seats. Previous to the opening of Yulman, Tulane shared a home stadium with the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. When choosing the new synthetic turf surface for Yulman, Tulane chose to keep the same trusted surface that was used installed in the Superdome. Native American day is a holiday celebrated in various forms by California, North Dakota, Tennessee, and Nevada. The day is filled with activities surrounded with traditions, culture, and background of Native Americans.
One piece of Native American culture lives on today through the sport of lacrosse. A version of the sport is documented back to 17th century America by immigrants settling the Northeast. The games were major events that took place over several days and were contests played by tribal warriors for training, recreation and religious reasons. The Native American game of lacrosse could involve anywhere from 100-1,000 players of opposing tribes and play could stretch across miles of land
The start of the game was signaled by tossing the ball, often made of wood, stuffed deerskin, or skulls of small animals, up in the air where players would race to catch it. The ball could not touch a players hand and there was no out-of-bounds on these open fields. The goal was to score on one of three stick poles, which were marked at different heights to signify one point earned, two points earned, or three points earned.
Today lacrosse has transformed into an international sport that is played at the grade school, intercollegiate, and professional level. The vast fields ridden with natural features such as rocks and trees have been replaced with even surfaces with standard dimensions.
Our field feature this week is a lacrosse facility in California. Dominican University of California men’s lacrosse is a Division II team in the Pacific West Coast conference. The team was a founding member of the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, the first association west of the Mississippi River. Dominican won the WILA in 2013 and 2014 before transitioning to the MCLA for the 2015 season.
