Bishop Gorman is not letting the upsets of earlier in the season affect them anymore. Coming off of a complete blowout for homecoming, the Gaels brought the heat again on Friday against the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions. The Gaels’ defense only allowed one touchdown from the Mountain Lions and the offense killed it by scoring 62 points. This was the second home game in a row before Bishop Gorman goes back on the road this Friday, October 19 to face off against the Durango Trailblazers.

The Friday night lights shone bright over Meriden, Kansas last week when the Jefferson West Tigers defended their home turf against the Wellsville Eagles. The Tigers kept the Eagles’ scoring to a minimum, only allowing 6 points from their opponents. Like the Gaels, the Tigers offense brought their A-game and ended up scoring 41 points to secure another win at home.

This weekend marked Week 6 in the NFL and the Vikings are taking no prisoners this season. Its been a slow start to the season for the Vikings, but after the 27-12 win at U.S. Bank Stadium yesterday, the team finally has a win streak to propel them into Week 7. This was also the first game that all three portions of the team worked well from offense, to defense, to special teams, to perform as an entire unit. This balance was a refreshing reminder of what the Vikings are capable of. One of these capabilities is the ability to run the ball. There has been a lot of stress for Kirk Cousins to carry the offense with stellar passes, but this weekend proved that they can also still rush when needed. The Vikings offense was bolstered even further with the performance by Adam Theilen, the wide receiver that is coming off of his sixth week in a row with over 100 yards. To top it all off, the Vikings defense is now rated #1 in the NFL for 3rd downs and has successfully kept their opponents conversion rate at just 25%.

It was around this point last year that the team’s spirit ignited and not only playoffs, but also a spot in the Super Bowl became possible. Do you think the Vikings can pull it off again?

The New York Jets also dominated their home turf yesterday when the Indianapolis Colts came to town. This high-point game was exciting throughout and led the Jets to score over 40 points for the first time in years. This was in part from rookie QB Sam Darnold’s high-accuracy in his throws (24-for-30). The white-out game at MetLife Stadium was reassuring experience that helped give the Jets a winning streak and take their record up to 0.500.
