Walt Whitman High School is a public high school located in Bethesda, Maryland. Last month the Whitman Vikings installed Act Global’s Xtreme Turf for a new sports field for their athletes. The students of Walt Whitman High School are now able to have a safe and durable field for their sporting events.
When making the switch to synthetic turf, there are various benefits that come along with it. Not only is it cost-effective, but it also requires minimal maintenance compared to natural grass, and it’s environmentally friendly due to water conservation. Act Global’s Xtreme Turf goes through verified UV and UVA testing for intense climate conditions as well as safety and durability for all players. Maryland usually has low temperatures in the fall and winter seasons, so making the switch to synthetic turf was a way for this school to utilize the field as much possible without having to take time off for maintenance. This increases the availability of the field. Because of this testing, all athletes are able to enhance player performance on our turf safely.
We are excited to see how well the Whitman Vikings continue to play on our turf in the coming seasons!

Tons of people are making the switch to synthetic turf for various reasons. Whether it’s to escape the extensive maintenance of natural grass or to be more environmentally friendly, synthetic turf is a cost-effective way to have the look and feel of natural grass without the upkeep of it. The durability of the synthetic turf is extremely important to ensure that the turf can handle various sports activities in a safe manner for all athletes, as well as making sure the turf can withstand different climatic conditions over time.
Act Global’s turf goes through verified testing that exposes the turf to 3,000 hours of UVA testing for intense climatic conditions and up to 130,000 Lisport cycles to test tensile strength. By testing our turf for maximum durability and safety, we eliminate any blossoming. Blossoming is a term that can be related to degradation. This is when the synthetic turf degrades and becomes very worn. Within the monofilament or fibrillated yarn, different infills are put in to help the stability of the yarn itself, keeping the turf dense. If the yarns blossom, it makes the infill less helpful and can make the turf field dangerous for athletes. The more durable the synthetic turf field is, the safer it is and the longer it lasts. With the use of this testing, we can ensure that our turf does not blossom.
By recognizing the importance of durability in synthetic turf, Act Global is able to put the safety and performance needs of athletes first by using our testing tools. We are proud to be a synthetic turf company that builds fields around the world for safer, more economical, and environmentally friendly sports facilities.

Located on the outskirts of Toronto on the edge of Lake Ontario is a large and up-and-coming city. Mississauga is an extremely active community in a variety of sports and activities, so its necessary for the city to provide amenities that support this lifestyle.
Last year Mississauga elected to install two multi-use artificial grass fields within a local park. The high-performance synthetic turf fields are located at Iceland Park, a state of the art facility that offers many sports and recreational amenities for the area. Both fields sit within the 160-acre park with vibrant markings for any sports team to train. The fields are made entirely of professional-grade synthetic turf, the same turf seen in stadiums across the world.
Almost a year after installation, our partners captured aerial imagery of the fields that are still looking vibrant and plush. The Xtreme Turf fields completed with EcoFill from Mondo and ProPlay underlay from Schmitz Foam was installed by Carpell Surfaces. Carpell Surfaces is a leading supplier and installer of synthetic sports surfaces across Canada. The company has an excellent reputation for top-quality installations in sports facilities at major universities, colleges and schools, as well as high-profile sporting events.

The iconic Birds Next Stadium was designed and built as the main hub for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The large, open roof stadium has since become a venue used for high-profile events and as a tourist attraction. BNS remains a landmark that continues to draw in people from across the world for both the sight and for events.
Currently, outside the stadium, the management team is testing a pilot field crafted from Xtreme Grass. Inside Birds Nest is a traditional grass field that is both difficult and expensive to maintain and faces wear from the multitude of games and attractions hosted within the stadium. After the test field proves to be successful, the pitch inside the stadium will be resurfaced with the reinforced strength of Xtreme Grass. Xtreme Grass offers up to 30% more playing hours compared to natural grass alone and promotes faster, thicker growth of the grass blades.
Stay tuned for updates on Birds Nest Stadium!

The new synthetic grass field installed by The KYA Group offers a professional level sports system to Southern California Schools.
Austin, TX- This summer, Citrus College elected to revitalize its main multipurpose field with leading synthetic turf technology. The KYA Group expertly installed Xtreme Turf before practice for the 2018 season began.
As a replacement for the outdated field, this turf system was selected for its reputation for safety and strength. The Citrus College Stadium has a long history of being used as a filming destination, therefore the field must remain camera-ready throughout the year. Xtreme Turf combines science with aesthetics to be safe for athletes, durable against damage, and beautiful for fans.
Citrus College’s new turf offers a bright and bold surface solution for a field that is utilized by multiple sports teams. The vivid markings make it easy for players and fans to distinguish their respective field lines. Finished off with a bold blue and orange border, the synthetic turf field rests beautifully in front of the college’s mountainous surroundings.
“The field couldn’t look better,” comments KYA Regional Director Andrea Ivey while visiting the site after completion. “We can’t wait to get players on the field so they can experience the turf themselves- we know the coaches are excited for game day.”
