The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team will take on the Korea Republic Women’s National Football team tonight at 7:00 PM at the SMG managed Mercedes Benz Superdome.  Tonight’s match is one of only four games left in the U.S. Women’s Team’s 2017 schedule, the first of a doubleheader of friendlies against the Korea Republic.  These two teams have not met since 2015 which resulted in a 0-0 draw.

The United States Women’s Soccer Team is a three-time FIFA Women’s World Cup winner and the most successful team in international women’s soccer.  The team currently occupies the number one position in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, a position it has held almost continuously since March 2008.

In tonight’s match at the Superdome, the U.S. Women’s team will test the durability and playability of the recently installed Act Global synthetic turf.  The artificial grass is engineered and tested to offer a superior playing surface for the players,  creating a surface that is fast under the foot and provide sufficient firmness to limit fatigue injuries to the lower extremities of the player’s body.  The synthetic turf system also provides proper Rotational Resistance (traction) to ensure foot stability and to enable quick release of the shoes during rotation and traction movements.  These specifically engineered components of the turf will help protect individual players so that the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team can perform their best tonight.

Good luck to the United States Women’s team tonight!

Field Feature Friday: Urban Soccer

22405718_1730063943680230_735991513490827178_nUrban Soccer is a network of sports facilities and a French leader of foot5 tournaments.  Created in 2005 by two former students of HEC, the brand has grown to comprise a total of 30 centers in France.  Urban Soccer offers daily rentals of spaces for practice, tailor-made leisure competitions, tournaments, workshops, and private rentals of a facility.  To complete the full-service nature of the venue, Urban Soccer is complete with a bar and restaurant.

As a facility that is dedicated to providing the most to its members and never sacrifice playability, we are honored to be the choice of synthetic turf for Urban Soccer’s indoor pitches.  Renovations of the Meylan facility took place in early September to kick off a new season with a new surface.  The artificial grass chosen for Urban Soccer is an exclusive blend of fibers that offers unmatched durability for high-intensity play.  As a venue that hosts high-intensity play all day every day, Urban Soccer demanded a synthetic turf system that can enhance performance, withstand heavy use, and provide a safe surface on impact.  The artificial grass was ready for immediate use by the facility after installation.

Lakeside High School Upgrades to Act Global Synthetic Turf

Lakeside LancersLakeside High School is a public high school located in the quaint western Riverside town of Lake  Elsinore, California.  Lakeside is one of three high schools in the district.  Students are taught the fundamental pillars of respect, integrity, scholarship, and effort, and how to apply these traits to “rise and lead”.  This is an expectation of students both in academic and athletic settings, and one that the football team has taken to heart.  The Lancers currently boast a 5-1 record with multiple shutdowns of their opponents.  Week 6 is about to get underway, marking the start of league games and the hunt for a playoff title.  This week Lakeside will face off against Paloma Valley who match their 5-1 record.  The Lakeside Lancers compete in the CIF Southern Section Sunbelt League.

With student-athletes working as hard as the Lancers, a safe and supportive surface is necessary for the long daily practice hours and games.  The average high school football player can spend multiple hours a day practicing on the field, which is why Lakeside High School chose Act Global synthetic turf and installation by The KYA Group.  The new multipurpose field is composed of artificial grass that is designed for professional play and offers quicker recovery from fatigue, ideal balance of shock absorption and vertical deformation, and a high yarn density for player comfort.  This gives the Lancer football and soccer teams a stable and long-lasting sports system.

The Lancers will be taking on Paloma Valley High School at home tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.

Good Luck to the Lancers!

U.S. Bank Stadium Named a “Facility of Merit 2017”

Minneapolis’ multipurpose venue for major sports, music, and cultural events has been recognized by Athletic Business magazine as a pinnacle facility.

US Bank Stadium ColorThe Facility of Merit Awards are announced each October after a rotating panel of leading architects convenes to select the top 10.   Selections are based on the following categories: plan efficiency; functional relationships and measures taken to maximize use of space; interior finishes, detailing and color schemes; exterior design; the relationship of building to site; and cost of construction for value received.

At 1.7 million square-feet, U.S. Bank Stadium opened in 2016 as the new home for the Minnesota Vikings and as the host for several prominent sporting events.  The venue was designed on the basis of climate and culture of Minneapolis with exceptional quality and comfort for the fans that frequent the facility.  The architects that created U.S. bank were exceptionally thoughtful in each design element that was implemented to be beautiful while functional.  The transparent roof illuminates the interior with natural light and protects it from snow while acting as a “heat reservoir” to store solar heat and reducing energy usage by 16%.

Act Global is honored to have its brand of turf within U.S. Bank, a venue that was conscientiously crafted in each detail.  Act Global synthetic turf is engineered and tested to offer a superior playing surface for players, as proven by a variety of benchmark tests and quality and durability checks.

3 of the judges from the panel gave raving remarks about the U.S. Bank Stadium:

“Monumental, striking and memorable. The sheer scale of this powerful abstract Viking form is impressive and bigger than life. Hard not to be consumed by all this facility has to offer the fan experience on game day.” — Troy Sherrard

“Dramatic design derived from a concept connecting the history of the Vikings and Nordic design to a bold and aggressive modern facility.” — Kalman Nagy

“Creative seating bowl and long-span solution. I appreciate the fresh approach to the building type. A bold form that derives from the local climate and Viking precedents.” — Stephen Sefton

Congratulation to U.S. Bank on this momentous award!

Field Feature Friday: Fullerton Union High School

Fullerton aerial viewOur California partner, The KYA Group, recently completed installation of our synthetic turf system for Fullerton ISD.

Fullerton Union High School is the oldest high school in Orange County, California.  Since 1893 the secondary school has prided itself on creating an environment grounded in academic, athletic, and co-curricular success.  The school consistently ranks in the top 7% of high schools, as reported by both US News and World Reports, as well as being named as Washington Post’s “Most Challenging High Schools”.  The Fullerton Indians athletics teams compete under the California Interscholastic Federation’s Southern Section.

The Indian’s new multiuse field will be the official surface for the football and soccer teams.  The men’s varsity football team had a rough start to the season with three away games in a row that resulted in losses.  However, on the team’s homecoming on the Indian’s turned the season around and came out with a win.  Tonight the Indians will be taking on the Sanora Raiders in an away game, but next week (10/13), the boys will be back home on their own turf.

The synthetic turf sports system at Fullerton Union High School is specifically engineered for player safety and performance.  Act Global turf is designed to give athletes of all levels a professional-quality sports surface that will reduce injuries and increase playability.
