It was a busy weekend on our turf, at all levels. There were both some wins and losses by our favorite teams, but it was a great weekend to watch.
The weekend kicked off with a bang when the Houston Cougars dominated the field over the Tulsa Golden Warriors. The 41-26 win came after an explosive 4th-quarter where the Cougars scored 24 points. Check out some of the highlights from the game:
Oregon Ducks Women’s soccer also fought hard Thursday night and played exceptionally. Unfortunately, #1 ranked Standford did win the match, but it was the valiant effort by the Ducks that kept the score at a low 1-0. We’re proud of how well the team controlled the field and the admirable teamwork the Ducks showed against the defending national champions.
Friday night proved to be an evening of high school heroes on our fields. Both Bishop Gorman and Austintown Fitch killed it last week with final scores at 42-7 and 49-6. The win helped Bishop Gorman hold down its #1 ranking in the state of Nevada and hopefully gave the team the confidence it needs to finish out the 2018 season strong.
On Saturday, the University of Hawaii football was nothing but strong. A 44-41 win over San Jose State not only brought the team to a 6-1 record but also meant the Paniolo trophy is back on the island. The team was more than a little excited as seen from the celebration:
Finishing off the weekend with a win was the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Sam Darnold had two big throws to Robby Anderson that helped secure the win and the team proved to be exceptional at running the ball. The Jets defense truly commanded the field though. With the defense keeping the Denver Broncos to just 16 points for the entire game, the offense was able to play the ball and score 34 points.
Tonight the Redskins will be taking on the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome. Are you ready for it?

Burgess–Snow Field at JSU Stadium is the home base of the Jacksonville State University Gamecocks football team. The team commands an impressive winning record at home, totaling 271-100-8 since the opening of the stadium in 1947. JSU stadium has expanded significantly since its humble inception where it seated just 5,000 people to be a home for fans to rally together every game. Over many years and several renovations, the facility has increased its capacity over four-fold and updated Burgess–Snow Field to professional-quality synthetic turf.
In 2016 JSU stadium underwent one of its most notable renovations- the resurfacing of Burgess-Snow Field to Act Global’s artificial grass. Tested for safety and relied on for performance, Act Global’s synthetic turf has been used for years at the novice, amateur, and professional sports level. Each synthetic turf system engineered is conceived from a distinct need for specialized sports systems that improve the way athletes can play their sport. Our highly technical team utilizes the latest advancements in fiber and product technology to create fields smarter fields that are also beautiful. We believe that if our first priority of keeping athletes safer for longer is accomplished, our fields will also be durable enough to withstand unsightly aging as well.

As one of the top universities in Canada, Trent University offers exceptional resources to its students. The post-secondary institution is committed to providing an educational experience that is personal, purposeful, and transformative. Through both academic and extracurricular success, Trent University has been able to create a community that is challenging and supportive.
This year the University elected to resurface its original 2005 multipurpose athletics field to Act Global’s Xtreme Turf. The Excalibur now host practices and games on the most durable and safe brand of artificial grass available. This is essential for the soccer, rugby, and lacrosse teams that each utilize the pitch and require a high-quality surface for their performance. The field was completed with eco-friendly infill to reduce the school’s ecological footprint and encourage long-term sustainability.
This installation was completed by our Canadian partner Carpell Surfaces. Carpell Surfaces is a leading supplier and installer of synthetic sports surfaces across Canada. The company has an excellent reputation for top-quality installations in sports facilities at major universities, colleges and schools, as well as high-profile sporting events.

Last year, Act Global and USL joined together in a partnership to revolutionize the synthetic turf fields used for soccer. As the Official Synthetic Turf supplier for all league properties, Act Global is the #1 trusted athletic surface within professional and developmental soccer. The hundreds of teams that make up the USL, USL D3, PDL, and the Super Y Leagues deserve a pitch they can trust to support their safety and performance. With Act Global artificial grass, athletes and coaches can be confident that their sports field emulates natural ball roll, reinforces proper traction, and discourages excessive twists/turns of the joints. This is backed by extensive testing measures that assure our turf meets strict international standards of safety and performance set by international standards. This standard benchmarks facilities around the world to regulate the quality of sports fields that athletes play on.
We are thrilled to continue to work with the USL organization on this ongoing effort.

Today marks 60 days out from one of our favorite events of the year. The Homeless World Cup is the culmination of a year’s work to positively impact those affected by homelessness and to help change the perception of these individuals. The Homeless World Cup Foundation uses football as a mutual human connection to bring homeless people out of isolation and challenge them to share and communicate with others. By charging them with the responsibility to be active participants in something larger than themselves, these individuals have the opportunity to feel empowered over their own lives again.
This year marks the 16th edition of the annual tournament and is expected to be one of the largest to date. As the tournament continues to grow and impact more lives across the world, Act Global is honored to continue to be involved in the tournament. The 2018 event in Mexico will be our 4th year as the synthetic turf sponsor. Each of us at Act Global is humbled each year by the lasting effects of the tournament and we are sure that this year will be no different.
Thank you, Homeless World Cup Foundation for continuing to push for social change throughout the world.
