![The Woodlands Rugby Club Tests the Durability of Xtreme Turf]()

Since 1983, The Woodlands Rugby Club has been a catalyst committed to growing rugby in the North Houston area. The founders John Cherrybone, Dave Jenkins and Steve Box opened the club after settling in The Woodlands to inspire character growth and spread their love of the game by welcoming beginners alongside returning players. In the 30+ years since the club has gained recognition as a Division II National Champion in 2001 as well as become a pillar of community service within the city. The Woodlands Rugby Club works with 3 local philanthropic groups including Interfaith, Montgomery County Women’s Center, and the neighborhood trail clean up.
Rugby is an all year, all weather sport. Pre-season for the Woodlands Rugby Club took place in September, with the normal season’s game dates spanning from November to the end of April. Championship tournament dates can push the season well into May.
With this demanding schedule and little off-season recovery time, the safety of rugby players is vital. The Woodlands Rugby Club hosts practices as well as matches at the Alden Bridge Sports Park, which was upgraded to an all-weather synthetic turf system in 2013. Urban Soccer is a network of sports facilities and a French leader of foot5 tournaments. Created in 2005 by two former students of HEC, the brand has grown to comprise a total of 30 centers in France. Urban Soccer offers daily rentals of spaces for practice, tailor-made leisure competitions, tournaments, workshops, and private rentals of a facility. To complete the full-service nature of the venue, Urban Soccer is complete with a bar and restaurant.
As a facility that is dedicated to providing the most to its members and never sacrifice playability, we are honored to be the choice of synthetic turf for Urban Soccer’s indoor pitches. Renovations of the Meylan facility took place in early September to kick off a new season with a new surface. The artificial grass chosen for Urban Soccer is an exclusive blend of fibers that offers unmatched durability for high-intensity play. Lakeside High School is a public high school located in the quaint western Riverside town of Lake Elsinore, California. Lakeside is one of three high schools in the district. Students are taught the fundamental pillars of respect, integrity, scholarship, and effort, and how to apply these traits to “rise and lead”. This is an expectation of students both in academic and athletic settings, and one that the football team has taken to heart. The Lancers currently boast a 5-1 record with multiple shutdowns of their opponents. Week 6 is about to get underway, marking the start of league games and the hunt for a playoff title. This week Lakeside will face off against Paloma Valley who match their 5-1 record. The Lakeside Lancers compete in the CIF Southern Section Sunbelt League.
With student-athletes working as hard as the Lancers, a safe and supportive surface is necessary for the long daily practice hours and games. The average high school football player can spend multiple hours a day practicing on the field, which is why Lakeside High School chose Act Global synthetic turf and installation by The KYA Group. A recent article by Athletic Business magazine focused on the increasing prevalence of children’s mega-tournaments and the privatization of sports.
Gone are the days of Saturdays spent at the community ballpark or sports facility, sitting on metal bleachers and snacking on concessions foods. Families have traded up packed coolers for plane tickets to travel to professional-grade venues across the country.
According to a study by the Sports and Fitness Industry Association, one in five parents spends more than $1,000 per child in a month in sports activities.
Due to a decrease in the emphasis on physical education and reduction in the sampling of sports introduced to their children, parents have turned club teams for competitive sports opportunities. Increased competition has also led to increased economic opportunities for communities that build all-inclusive facilities that host youth tournaments. However, the quality of the venue is vital to its success. The modern mega facility boasts several dozen playing fields and courts, on-site hotels and dining, and easily accessible entertainment.
As parent’s expectations of sporting venues continue to rise, a professional caliber venue has become the norm. Bronxville Union Free School District just upgraded their multipurpose field to Act Global synthetic turf.
The square-mile suburb outside of New York City is nationally recognized for excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. Not only was the high school ranked #5 overall in the country by Newsweek, but the town is known to attract successful artists looking to settle down.
The new artificial grass field will be a center point of athletics for the 1600 students enrolled at the high school. The synthetic turf system will be utilized by both the football teams, the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams, and the soccer teams. The extensively engineered surface is unmatched in durability, meaning that each of the Broncos teams will have a consistent playing surface.
